KLPW's John Covington

John Covington hosts the Sports Club Show every Saturday morning. The show features local coaches from the Four Rivers Conference, Washington and Borgia, interesting topics and lively discussion. The show airs from 8:30-10:00.

John has been employed at KLPW Radio for 24-years. He has performed a variety of tasks from sales to news and sports and currently holds the title of Sports Director. A winner of the NSSA Missouri Sportscaster of the Year award in 2007 and 2009, John coordinates and broadcasts about 140-local football, volleyball, softball, basketball and baseball games each year. He also hosts the Sports Club Show Saturday mornings which features interviews with local coaches from the Four Rivers Conference, Washington and Borgia.

When he's not broadcasting sports John enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters who are also involved in athletics.
His interests away from radio include hunting and fishing, playing hockey and coaching little league softball in the summer.

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Seth Schenck. The New Haven Junior won the state title in the the 800 meter run at Lincoln University in Jefferson City. His time of 1:59.20 set a new school record. Seth also took second in the 1600 meter run with a time of 4:30.49 and anchored the 4X800 relay team that captured seventh place. Seth also played basketball and ran cross country in his junior year at New Haven.

The Missouri State High School Activities Association State Track and Field Championships get underway Friday in Classes 3 and 4. 70 local athletes representing, Washington, Borgia, Union, St. Clair, Pacific, Sullivan, Warrenton, Owensville and St. James will compete in the two day event at Lincoln University in Jefferson City.
