Lockout Lifted at Washington Schools

WASHINGTON, MO. - Washington High School and Middle are no longer on a lockdown.  The two schools were placed on a lockout at 7:30 a.m. after police learned of a threating post on a social media site towards “Washington High School.”

The lockout was lifted at 9:30 a.m.  Police determined the threat was not directed to the high school, instead to a Washington High School in Pierce County in the State of Washington.

Washington Police Sargent Steve Sitzes said they contacted the Washington State Police and confirmed an arrest had been made in relation to the same post they had been investigating.

Sitzes encourage people not to hesitate contacting police if they feel there is reason for concern.

He added that if people had reported the threating post on social media Sunday night they would have solved the incident before Monday morning.

There was also a Washington High School in South Bend, Indiana placed on lockout for the exact same post made on social media.
