UNION, MO. - Planning life after high school can be difficult. Often the choice is made between doing what is more beneficial or simply doing what works best. However, not everyone has the same advantages and opportunities.
The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) Youth Program exists for those ages 16-24 who need assistance in finding employment or pursuing their post-secondary education. This program offers transition services including continuing and adult education, independent living, work readiness programs and more.
The WIOA program is an agency involved in the Franklin County Community Transitions Team (CTT). Each year, the CTT puts together a Transition Resource Fair for local high schools, especially for their Special Education students. The fair provides information about the services offered with the various CTT programs, including the Developmental Services of Franklin County and Choices for People Employment Agency.
This year’s fair is Tuesday, March 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the East Central College Training Center. Students and adults with disabilities are invited along with parents and teachers to come learn about which services can be available to them.
