St. Clair Firefighters Find Body While Battle Brush Fire

ST. CLAIR, MO. - A body was found early this morning by St. Clair firefighters while battling a brush fire.  According the Sheriff’s office fire crews responded to the 2100 block of W. Springfield Road in St. Clair for report a large wooded area on fire.

During their investigation, deputies learned a 65-year-old man was missing who lived on the same property of the fire. 

Sheriff Steve Pelton says, “Preliminary investigations reveal that the victim had been suffering from medical conditions and had been confused the last couple of days.”

Pelton says the cause of death does appears accidental.

The investigation continues with the cooperation of the St. Clair Fire Department, the Franklin County Fire and Arson Investigator and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
