Squirrel and Black Bass Seasons Set to Open on May 27th

Missouri hunters and anglers have something extra to look forward to for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend.  Saturday, May 27th will mark the opening of both squirrel season and catch-and-keep bass season in most streams south of the Missouri River.  From May 27th through February 15th hunters will be able to pursue gray and fox squirrels.  The daily limit for squirrels is ten, with a possession limit of 20.  Hunters can find more information on squirrel season in the 2017 Missouri Department of Conservation Summary of Missouri Hunting and Trapping Regulations.

The season for largemouth, smallmouth, and spotted bass will run from May 27th through February 28th.  In most Missouri waterways the daily limit is six.  Bass taken from rivers and streams must be at least twelve inches long.  All anglers must have a valid fishing permit or be exempt.  More information on bass fishing can be found in the Missouri Department of Conservation’s 2017 Summary of Missouri Fishing Regulations.
