Firework Shows to be Held Throughout the Area

There will be a number of firework shows throughout the area in the coming days to celebrate Independence Day.  The first of these events be the annual Owensville Community Picnic and Fireworks on June 30th at Memorial Park.  Activities in the park will begin at 5:30 pm, with fireworks being shot off at dusk.  The event is being sponsored by the Owensville Fire Department and the firefighters themselves will shoot off the fireworks.  This year’s fireworks display in Union will take place on July 3rd at the park pavillion at the new Veterans Memorial Park.  The fireworks will once again be shot off at dusk and are sponsored this year by the City of Union.  A concession stand will also be open to purchase food and drinks.  Other area displays will take place on the Fourth of July.  The Washington American Legion will have their annual display at the Washington Fairgrounds beginning at 9 pm.  Two of the bigger celebrations will be held in Sullivan and Hermann.  In Sullivan this year’s fireworks display will be sponsored by First State Community Bank, the City of Sullivan, and West Brothers.  The display will begin at 9:15 pm at Campbell Chapman Park.  Prior to the display, there will be a VFW parade at 7:30 pm and activities at the park will start at 3 pm.  Hermann will also have a parade at 3 pm prior to their fireworks show.  The fireworks will be shot off at Riverfront Park at dusk.  This year’s display is sponsored by the Hermann Area Chamber of Commerce.  Lastly, the city of St. Clair won’t have their usual fireworks display due to the total solar eclipse in August.  However, the St. Clair VFW will be hosting their own fireworks display beginning at 9 pm at the VFW Hall on July 4th.
