Missouri Department of Conservation to Provide Mentored Dove Hunt in Washington

The Missouri Department of Conservation is teaming up with the National Wild Turkey Federation, Conservation Federation of Missouri, Quail Forever, Missouri Prairie Foundation, and private landowners to provide mentored dove hunts for first-time hunters.  The hunts will begin in September, and Washington will be the site of one of the hunts.  The hunts will take place in fields located on private land in, or near several different communities.  The other locations chosen for the hunts are Cabool, Chillicothe, Hartsville, Joplin, Lynchburg, Mokane, Mountain Grove, Paris, and Ste. Genevieve.  There will be a total of three hunts held at each location.  Each field will be limited to two first-time hunters, and their mentors per acre.  This is done to maximize safety and to provide a quality experience.  Each participating new hunter will be assigned a mentor and are encouraged to attend a pre-hunt workshop or a hunter education course prior to participating.  For more information on the mentored dove hunts call John Burk at 573-676-5994.
