Washington to Hold Eclipse Events

More people in Missouri will see the total solar eclipse on August 21st, then anyone else in the country.  St. Louis and Kansas City will only see a few seconds of totality.  The longest periods of totality in Missouri will be in area communities like St. Clair and Washington.  To celebrate the eclipse, the City of Washington will be holding a full weekend of activities.  The activities start on August 19th with a Dome Theater Mobile Planetarium on display at the City Hall Council Chambers.  The planetarium will feature laser shows of the solar system and the eclipse.  August 20th will be Moonlight Madness in downtown Washington.  Activities will begin at 5 pm.  Stores will be open late and Farmers’ Market vendors will also be open.  The night will conclude with the movie, “Spaceballz” being shown at the Farmers’ Market.  Lastly, on August 21st, the eclipse viewing party will be held on the Washington Fairgrounds.  Activities will run from 10 am to 5 pm.  Food, drinks, and souvenirs will be available for purchase.  The total eclipse will take place from 1:15 to 1:18 pm.
