Missouri Law Enforcement to Increase Speeding Enforcement this Weekend

Missouri motorists are being warned to watch their speed this weekend while out on the road.  Missouri is joining five other states for a speed enforcement blitz from July 21st through the 23rd.  The “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine” campaign is an intensified crackdown on speeding.  Law enforcement in Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Oklahoma will be joining Missouri on cracking down on speeders.  Most of Missouri law enforcement’s focus during the crackdown will be on Interstates 70, 44, 55, and 35.  Those are the roads where the most speed related crashes in Missouri occur.  During the campaign officers will ticket anyone who exceeds the speed limit.  In 2015 there were 869 total traffic fatalities.  Of those, 36 percent were related to speeding.  For more information on the “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine” campaign visit trafficsafetymarketing.gov
