Missouri Law Enforcement Catches Nearly 2,000 Speeders During Recent Enforcement

The recent speeding enforcement blitz conducted by Missouri law enforcement ended up catching nearly 2,000 speeders.  Missouri law enforcement ended up writing a total of 1,951 speeding citations this past weekend as a result of a six-state speed enforcement blitz.  The “Obey the Sign or Pay the Fine” campaign was an intensified effort to crack down on speeding in Missouri, Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas, and Oklahoma.  Across the six states over 7,700 speeding tickets were issued during a three-day enforcement period.  Tickets were also issued for offenses like DWI and seatbelt violations.  In Missouri there were 54 DWI arrests, 316 seatbelt citations, and 79 drug arrests during the crackdown.  Despite the crackdown there were still 180 traffic crashes on Missouri roads and seven total fatalities during this past weekend.  Interstates 70, 44, 55, and 35 were the primary routes targeted by law enforcement during the crackdown.
