August is Missouri's Responsible Gaming Education Month

Since 2003 the month of August has been recognized as Missouri’s Responsible Gaming Education Month by the Missouri Alliance to Curb Problem Gaming.  It was initially recognized as a weeklong campaign, but the Missouri Alliance choose to extend the effort to the entire month.  The Alliance, its members, a coalition of Missouri treatment providers, and gaming organizations are combining their collective resources for this year’s campaign.  The Alliance recognizes a variety of strategies to keep gambling as a form of entertainment and reduce the chances of gamblers developing an addiction.  These strategies include setting a loss limit, setting a time limit, using discretionary funds, and taking regular breaks from gambling.  Anyone who has a gambling problem can call for treatment at 1-888-238-7633.
