Missouri Lottery Makes Second Largest Contribution Ever to Public Education

The Missouri Lottery has made its second largest contribution to public education in its 31 year history.  The contribution is worth $35.5-million and is largely thanks to the second highest Powerball jackpot at the end of August.  The Powerball jackpot run is believed to have generated $12.6-million by itself for the month.  Since Missouri Lottery sales began in 1986 the Lottery has generated over $5.8-billion for state and public education.  Annual Lottery proceeds comprise about four percent of the state’s funding for public education.  For more information on where Lottery proceeds go to visit molottery.com and click on the where the money goes tab.
