Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fatal Drug Overdose

A Gray Summit man is in custody for his connection in a drug overdose death.  On November 1st the Franklin County Sheriff’s office received a call for a drug overdose death in Gray Summit.  The victim, a 24-year old pacific man, had been located by family members in the rear parking lot of the Daniel Boone Motel.  The victim was found in the passenger seat of his vehicle, covered with a coat and sheet.  During the investigation, the victim was discovered to be missing his keys, wallet, and cellphone.  Detectives learned the victim had gone with 32-year old Joshua Day of Gray Summit to purchase heroin in St. Louis the previous day.  On November 4th, Day was located and arrested at a residence in Union.  During questioning Day confirmed he and the victim had gone to St. Louis to purchase heroin.  Once back at the motel day discovered the man two hours later dead in the passenger seat of the vehicle.  He proceeded to take the remaining heroin, along with the victim’s keys and cellphone.  Day also covered the body to prevent it from being detected.  He would later dispose of the keys and cellphone to keep the victim from being located by law enforcement.  A warrant for Day has since been issued for distribution of a controlled substance.  His bond has been set at $50,000.
