Franklin County Sheriff's Office to Participate in Holiday Drunk Driving Crackdown

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office will be taking part in this year’s National Holiday DWI Enforcement Crackdown on substance-impaired driving.  The enforcement period in Franklin County will be from December 15th through January 1st.  The crackdown will include high-visibility enforcement and high-profile events.  The goal is to create a comprehensive campaign to curb substance impaired driving over the course of the holidays.  Statistics show 25 percent of all Missouri motor vehicle traffic deaths last year involved atleast one substance-impaired driver.  This resulted in 233 deaths and 700 serious injuries on Missouri roads in 2016.  During last year’s holiday crackdown period there were 44 fatalities and 193 serious injuries on Missouri roads.  Of those, seven deaths and 14 serious injuries were due to substance impairment.  For more information on the upcoming “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign visit trafficsafetymarketing.gov or savemolives.com.
