Washington Police Believe Tannerite the Cause of Wednesday Night Explosion

The investigation remains open into the cause of an explosion in Eastern Washington on Wednesday night.  However, Washington Police have a theory behind the cause.  Washington Detective Sergeant Steve Sitzes believes from the witness testimony they received at the scene that the cause of the explosion was Tannerite.  A Tannerite Target is a combination of two volatile substances mixed together. A high-powered rifle is normally used to detonate it.  Witnesses near the scene claimed to have heard gunshots prior to the explosion.  Tannerite is legal and can even be purchased online.  The explosion is believed to have ocurred at the old gun range near the bridge over Busch Creek off Old Highway 100, located just east of the city limits.  The investigation remains open as police look for the person responsible.
