Missouri House of Representatives Passes Bill to Combat Human Trafficking

With January and Human Trafficking Awareness Month completed, the Missouri General Assembly has sent a bill to the Governor’s desk designed to combat human trafficking.  The Missouri House of Representatives has passed House Bill 1246 by a vote of 139-5.  The bill would require the Missouri Department of Public Safety to develop human trafficking hotline posters to provide victims information on how to reach the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline.  Missouri has recently become a hotbed for human trafficking mainly due to its central location and large highway system.  The Show-Me State currently ranks 14th in the nation in human trafficking reports.
