Cuba Woman Arrested Following Police Chase in Franklin County

A Cuba woman has been arrested and charged following a police chase in Franklin County.  At around 5:30 pm on Monday Franklin County Sheriff Deputies and detectives with the Mulit-County Narcotics and Violent Crimes Enforcement Unit responded to the area of Highway 50 and Highway 185 in Beaufort after being informed a wanted person was going to be arriving at a local gas station.  The wanted person was identified as 23-year old Brigitte Leeann Bruyere of Cuba.  Bruyere had an active no-bond arrest warrant for a probation violation.   Bruyere was also wanted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office for questioning regarding Jacob Martin, an inmate who had escaped a MODOT worksite while in custody of the Potosi Correctional Facility.  When Bruyere arrived at the scene authorities converged on her vehicle.  However, Bruyere was able to escape and lead a chase on southbound Highway 185 toward Sullivan.  Upon reaching the Sullivan city limits, Sullivan police deployed spike strips which disabled Bruyere’s vehicle.  Once her vehicle came to a stop, Bruyere was taken into custody.  She is currently being held in the Franklin County Detention Facility for the probation violation warrant, resisting arrest, and numerous traffic violations.  Meanwhile, Jacob Martin was arrested by Eureka Police on Sunday after nearly five days on the run.
