Missouri Department of Conservation Providing Turkey Hunting Safety Tips

As spring turkey season approaches in Missouri, hunters are reminded to keep safety in mind when they head out into the woods.  The most common hunting accident is a hunter being mistaken for game.  The Missouri Department of Conservation advises hunters to wear hunter orange in order to cut down on the potential of these incidents happening.  Other safety tips from the Missouri Department of Conservation include identifying a turkey’s head or beard before aiming, wrap a bagged turkey or decoy in hunter orange, and never shoot at sound or movement.  For more information on Missouri spring turkey season visit huntfish.mdc.mo.gov.
