Two St. Clair Men Arrested for Multiple Vehicle Thefts

Both suspects in multiple vehicle thefts and a police pursuit in the St. Clair area are now in custody.  The incident occurred at 3 pm on Tuesday when Franklin County Deputies recovered a 2000 Ford Mustang abandoned on Lollar Branch Road in Stanton.  The vehicle had been reported stolen in St. Clair.  During the investigation a witness came forward to give the location of a second stolen vehicle, a 2006 Chevy Silverado.  While deputies were still at the scene the Silverado traveled past them on Highway WW in St. Clair.  Deputies pursued the vehicle which eventually crashed approximately five miles from where the chase originated.  Both suspects fled into a wooded area.  After a couple hours of searching one suspect, 19-year old Blake Schuster of St. Clair was apprehended.  The search for the second suspect carried into Thursday evening.  The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office received a witness tip stating the second suspect was at a gas station in St. Clair.  Authorities were able to take the suspect, 27-year old Joseph Thrower of St. Clair, into custody without incident.  Schuster has been charged with two counts of stealing a motor vehicle and one count of fleeing.  Thrower has been charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
