Union Man in Custody Following Standoff with Authorities

A Union man is in custody following a standoff with Franklin County authorities.  At 3 am on Wednesday Franklin County Deputies responded to the Hillside Trailer Court in Gerald after receiving information of a wanted man being seen at a residence in the trailer court.  The suspect was identified as 43-year old Montomgery Sinklear of Union.  Sinklear had active warrants in Franklin County for parole and probation violation, forgery, assault on law enforcement, damage to jail property, and driving while suspended.  At the trailer court Sinklear was believed to be in possession of a stolen vehicle and a stolen firearm.  Franklin County Deputies formed a perimeter around the trailer and the Franklin County SWAT team was sent to the scene.  Sinklear made threats against law enforcement during the standoff and barricaded himself inside.  After 30 minutes of negotiations Sinklear surrendered without further incident.  A search of the residence turned up narcotics and drug paraphernalia.  The stolen vehicle, a 2005 Chevy Silverado, was also found nearby during the search.  Sinklear is currently being held in the Franklin County Detention Center on the active warrants.  Additional charges are currently being sought by the sheriff’s office.
