Marian Hatcher nee Miller

Marian Hatcher, nee Miller, died peacefully February 3, 2017 at Mercy Hospital surrounded by her family.
Marian was preceded in death by her parents, James L. and Hilda Miller, her brother, James L. Miller, Jr. and her son, Michael Hatcher.
She is survived by her husband, Walter L. Hatcher, Washington; four children, Marihelen Hatcher, Columbus, OH; John (Nancy) Hatcher, Washington; Bill (Melanie Bell) Hatcher, Tucson, AZ and Carol Anne (Sean) Ahrens, Denver, CO and a grandson, Jack Ahrens, Denver, CO; three brothers, William L. (Jackie) Miller, Washington; Thomas L. (Marilyn) Miller, St. Louis and John E. (Bonnie) Miller, Osage Beach; special goddaughter and niece Jeanne Miller Wood, Washington; and other family and friends. She was loved by all.
Marian received her BA in Art from St. Mary College, Xavier, KS. She had a passion for travel, art, old friends, new friends and friends still to be made. In addition to living and travelling throughout the United States, Europe and Asia, she had the great opportunity to paint in Italy, Germany, France, Switzerland and throughout the United States, always making friends along the way. She also taught art courses in Germany.
Upon returning to Washington in 1987, she was an active member of the Mid-Missouri Fine Arts Society and the Washington Artist Guild. Marian regularly participated in regional art shows and was the recipient of many awards for her art. Marian was a wonderful hostess and she and Walt regularly entertained family and friends wherever they were living. All have fond memories of times spent at the Hatcher’s home.
A funeral Mass will be held at 10am Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church, Washington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Disease Research, 22512 Gateway Center Drive, PO Box 1950, Clarksburg, MD 20871.
