Mary Ann Mahon 75, of Washington, passed away on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at Victorian Place in Washington after a long battle with emphysema and COPD.
She was born on August 5, 1941 to the late William and Bernice (nee McMillin) in St. Louis. She was united in marriage to the late Philip Brusca on October 8, 1960. She and Phil enjoyed 24 years of marriage prior to his death in 1984. She married the late Robert Mahon on October 9, 2003.
Mary Ann enjoyed her childhood in St. Louis with her five siblings and large extended family. She graduated from St. Alphonsus “Rock” High school in 1959. She and Phil started their family in St. Louis, and in 1973 they moved their six kids out to the country in rural New Haven.
Their house on Orchard Road was a welcoming gathering place for many family and friends over the years. Mary Ann was a homemaker for many years. During that time she was a member of the Washington School Board.
Her work experience covered a range of activities from cleaning houses to working at Hazel, McDonald's, managing a doctor's office, running a trucking company, and working for the Rockwood School District. In looking back on her life, it is evident that she was able to reinvent herself many times.
Mary Ann was a kind soul who was loved by all who knew her. She shared her love generously and made friends wherever she went. She was a caring daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, cousin, aunt and friend to many. She will be greatly missed.
The family cannot express enough gratitude for the loving care provided by Dr. Bryce Ayers, Dr. Umer Siddiqui, Heartland Hospice and the wonderful staff at Victorian Place of Washington.
A celebration of her life will take place on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at Miller Funeral Home.
