Jake Silvestri went into the sectional averaging 7.8 points per game, but last night he hit four three pointers and finished with 21 points leading Parkway Central to a 70-68 win over the Borgia Knights at Kirkwood High School. Deandre Campbell added 15 and Arther Green 10 for the Colts, who advance to the quarterfinal with a 21-8 record. Borgia trailed by 10 in the fourth quarter but came back to tie it at 68 behind the play of Alex Movila and Gus Kleekamp who scored 26 and 20 points respectively. Campbell was fouled with one second left while attempting a long running three and hit 2 of 3 free throws win the game. Will Elbert pulled down seven rebounds for Borgia. The Knights end the season 18-11. Borgia committed 14 turnovers while Central turned it over eight times.
The season ended for the Sullivan Lady Eagles with a 66-45 loss to Parkway North. Amaya Stovall drained 21 points to lead the Vikings. Aliyah Belcher added 15 for Parkway North, now 24-5. The Eagles were led by Clare Shetley with 18 points. Sullivan ends the season 19-9 under Coach Jason Merkel.
Warrenton put up a good fight, but fell to Incarnate Word 53-46. Jenny Jansen led the Lady Warriors with 18 points and Kayla Nelson pulled down 12 rebounds. The Red Knights advance to the quarterfinal with a 25-4 record while Warrenton ends the season 24-4 under Coach Greg Williams.
Coming up tonight in the Class 5 Sectional, the Washington Lady Blue Jays will go up against Kirkwood. It's a 7:45 tip at St. Charles West High School. The game will be broadcast live on KLPW.
