NCAA Tournament Recaps

The Michigan Wolverines are heading to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.  Moritz Wagner dropped in 26 points to lead the seventh-seeded Wolverines to a 73-69 upset win over second-seeded Louisville in Midwest Region play in Indianapolis.  D.J. Wilson added 17 points for Michigan, which will face third-seeded Oregon in the Sweet 16 on Thursday in Kansas City.  Donovan Mitchell posted 19 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Cardinals, who end their season 25-and-9.  Deng Adel donated 16 points and five boards in defeat. 

Edrice "Bam" Adebayo blocked Landry Shamet's potential game-tying three-pointer at the buzzer as second-seeded Kentucky outlasted pesky Wichita State, 65-62, in Indianapolis.  Adebayo finished with 13 points and 10 rebounds in a back-and-forth affair.  Malik Monk and De'Aaron Fox each scored 14 for the Wildcats, who move on to the Sweet 16 and will face third-seeded UCLA.  Shamet led the 10th-seeded Shockers with 20 points.  Wichita State ends the year at 31-and-5. 

The top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks are heading to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament.  Josh Jackson netted 23 points and Frank Mason had 20 as the Jayhawks cruised past ninth-seeded Michigan State, 90-70, in Midwest Region action in Tulsa.  Devonte Graham added 18 points for the Jayhawks, who will face fourth-seeded Purdue in the Midwest Region semifinals.  Miles Bridges scored 22 points to pace the Spartans, who finish their season 20-and-15.  Nick Ward donated 13 in the setback. 

North Carolina blew a 17-point lead but found a way to survive for a 72-65 win over Arkansas in South Regional action in Greenville.  The Tar Heels went on a 12-0 run in the final 3:31 to advance to the Sweet 16, where they'll face Butler.  Kennedy Meeks had 16 points and 11 rebounds, while Justin Jackson finished with 15 points, eight rebounds, five steals and five assists.  The Razorbacks trailed 30-13 at one point in the first half, but lowered the deficit to five by the break.  Daryl Macon led Arkansas with 19 points in defeat. 

Baylor is into the Sweet 16 after getting by USC, 82-78.  Johnathan Motley had 19 points and 10 rebounds for the third-seeded Bears, who will meet South Carolina in the East Regional semifinals.  Terry Maston added 19 points in the win.  Chimezie Metu scored 28 points for the Trojans, who haven't advanced to the Sweet 16 since 2007.  USC ends the season 26-and-10. 

Duke's run in the NCAA Tournament is over.  Seventh-seeded South Carolina stormed back in the second half to upset the second-seeded Blue Devils, 88-81, in the second round of the East Regional.  The Gamecocks outscored the Blue Devils 65-51 after intermission.  Sindarius Thornwell had 24 points, six rebounds and five assists for South Carolina, which moves on to face Baylor in the Sweet 16.  Grayson Allen netted 20 points for Duke, which ends the year 28-and-9. 

Oregon is into the Sweet 16 after rallying for a 75-72 win over Rhode Island.  Tyler Dorsey drilled a go-ahead three-pointer with 38.4 seconds left and the third-seeded Ducks held on to secure a date with seventh-seeded Michigan in the Midwest Region semis.  Dorsey finished with 27 points in the win.  Stanford Robinson had 21 points for the Rams, who led by eight at the half.  Rhode Island ends the year 25-and-10. 

Third-seeded UCLA came to life in the second half to defeat sixth-seeded Cincinnati, 79-67, in the second round of the NCAA Tournament.  The Bruins closed out their time in Sacramento by outscoring the Bearcats 49-to-34 in the final 20 minutes.  Lonzo Ball led the way with 18 points, nine assists and seven rebounds.  UCLA squares off with Kentucky on Friday in the Sweet 16 of the South Region.  Jarron Cumberland had a team-high 15 points off the bench in the loss.  Cincinnati ends the season 30-and-6.
