Local College Sports Update


A thrilling end to the match yesterday had the ECC Falcons come out on top with an amazing overtime goal by Ralph Joseph to beat the Illinois Central College Cougars 3-2 in overtime. ECC entered the game coming off one day’s rest after beating Crowder College 3-1. The Falcons have improved to 5-1 through the first third of the season. The next game up for the Falcon’s is this Friday, Sept. 15 as ECC takes on the Lincoln Land Loggers in an away match in Springfield, IL.


The volleyball team is 5-3 after last week’s only match in a loss to Jefferson College in Hillsboro, MO. The Falcons return home to roost this week in a conference match against Mineral Area College on Wednesday, Sept. 13 at 6:30p.m. The Falcons have started strong on the season and will face the more conference and region matches in the weeks to come at the end of the month.


Fall scrimmage double headers have started for the Falcons as Coach Wallach is looking to build a line-up for the spring season. The freshmen were able to get their first exposure to the college game as the team faced Missouri Baptist JV this past Friday. This Saturday, the Falcons will hold an inter- squad scrimmage at home at 10:00a.m. Upcoming fall scrimmages include matchups against St. Louis Community College and William Woods.
