Local High School Sports-Tuesday, September 12th


Union scored early and often in a 14-0 five inning victory over St. Clair at Union High School Tuesday afternoon.  The Wildcats jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first and added nine runs in the fourth to end the game by the ten run rule.  Kelsie Hardester struck out seven with no walks to post the win.  Lauren Boyd was 3-for-4 with two runs and Georgie Bray, Sydney Eads, Amanda Downing and Adrianna Trenholm had two hits apiece.  Desi York doubled for the Bulldogs.  Union moves to 10-5 and 4-1 while St. Clair drops to 2-9 and 1-4.

Washington 3 Holt 2.  Ellie Quaethem struck out seven and walked two over seven innings for the win.  The Jays scored single tallies in the fourth, fifth and sixth and held on for the GAC Central victory.  Quaethem, Sarah Besczelko and Jena Monehan each drove in one run, Monehan with a solo homer as Washington improved to 12-7 and 6-0.  Holt drops to 10-2 and 3-1.

Warrenton 10 St. Charles 4 at Lindenwood University.  Destinee Frost was 3-for-4 with one rbi.  Frost was the winning pitcher with six strike outs and three walks.  She allowed four runs on five hits.  Warrenton moves to 6-8 while the Pirates drop to 5-6.

Owensville 6 Hermann 4.  Maria Krull doubled with two rbi's for the Bearcats.

Sullivan 11 Pacific 0.  Addison Purvis homered twice and struck out 11 Pacific batters while issuing just two walks for the win. She finished with three hits and five rbi's. Kloey Blanton, Madison Decker and Hanna Johanning posted three hits apiece. Sullivan banged out 15-hits and moved to 15-2 overall and 5-0 in the Four Rivers Conference.

St. James 15 New Haven 3.  Elizabeth Hughes was 2-for-3 with a double and one rbi for the Shamrocks.

Girls Golf

Borgia 201 Duchesne 217 at Eagle Springs.  Britney Harriman of Borgia was the medalist with a 48

Fort Zumwalt North 178 Fort Zumwalt East 213 Warrenton 237 at St. Peters. Kiersten Oderman of Zumwalt North earned the medal with a 37. 

Liberty 164 Washington 203 at Wolf Hollow.  Zoe Harrington of Liberty was the medalist with a 36.  Low Washington scored-Aholt with a 47.


Warrenton defeated St. Charles 17-25 26-24 25-20

New Haven over St. Clair 25-6 25-22

Washington topped Liberty 25-17 25-9

Sullivan beat Owensville in three 24-26 25-22 25-19

Pacific over St. James 25-8 25-14.  Kate Taylor posted six kills for the Indians. Demi Voyles added five kills.

Borgia beat Notre Dame 25-9 25-21

Hermann over Union 25-15 25-10
