Andrew Simily-Senior-Borgia Swim Team

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Andrew Simily, Senior Swimmer from St. Francis Borgia Regional High School in Washington.

Simily qualified for state in the 100 butterfly and finished 14th in the consolation race with a time of 57.11.  He was also a member of the 400 freestyle relay team which finished 15th with a time of 3:35.04.

Simily didn't begin the sport of competitive swimming until after he talked to Coach Jen Molitor at a Borgia open house as an 8th grader.  Coach Molitor suggested he do summer swimming. Andrew was unable to swim all four competitive strokes at the time.

Simily works out year-round, whether it is for Borgia, the YMCA, the Washington summer swim team or on his own.

Coach Molitor says she has never seen a harder worker and more goal-driven swimmer than Andrew Simily.  He leaves it all in the pool not just in every meet, but in every set in every practice.  His scheer drive has inspired the team to pick up their own pace.

Andrew is good student as well.  Current GPA: 4.0

Favorite Subjects: History, Honors Chemistry II and Literature.

Simily will be attending Missouri S & T in Rolla, where he hopes to swim.
