Boys Basketball

Borgia shot 59 percent from the floor in the first half and 47 percent for the game in a 66-48 win at St. Dominic.  The Knights led 41-15 at the half, but the Crusaders came back and pulled to within 11 at one point in the fourth quarter.  Borgia closed it out to improve to 11-10 overall and 1-3 in the AAA Conference.  St. Dominic drops to 11-9 and 3-4.  Jacob Unnerstall led Borgia with 18 points followed by Hunter Mehler and Brendan Smith with 15 each.  Josh Willenbrink scored 12 for St. Dominic.  It's career win number 704 for Coach Dave Neier.  He passes Ray DeGreef for the most wins in school history. 

Luke Gerlemann hit the game winning three pointer at the buzzer to give New Haven a 46-44 win over Owensville. Ethan Groner drained 17 for the Shamrocks with John Fleer pulling down nine rebounds.  New Haven moves to 7-16 and 1-4.  Sean Irwin scored 12 points for Owensville, now 9-13 and 1-3.

Bailey Terrill had a monster game with 16 points, 14 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists leading St. James past Sullivan 60-54.  Ty Uffmann annd Tyler Recker added 13 points each.  The Tigers are 16-6 and 3-2 in the four rivers conference.  For Sullivan, Cody McKinney pumped in 15 and Austin Lewis added 13.  The Eagles drop to 11-10 and 2-2. 

Cameron VanLeer posted 16 points and 8 rebounds and Tom Hennessey drained 16 points as Pacific ran past St. Clair 59-39 at the Dog Pound.  The Indians move to 17-4 overall and 5-0 in league play.  Jayce Decker scored 10 points for the Bulldogs with Kamalei Bursey pulling down 10 rebounds.  St. Clair drops to 5-16 and 2-3.

Orchard Farm slipped past Warrenton 72-66 in double overtime. Jake Frederick pumped in 25 for Orchard Farm, now 17-7 and 7-1 in the GAC North to win the conference title.  Warrenton drops to 13-6 and 3-2. 

Trevor Kelly drained 15 and Kale Crawford 14 leading Union past Hermann 42-40. Union trailed 16-7 after the first quarter, but outscored Hermann 36-25 the rest of the way to move to 9-13 overall and 4-1 in conference.  For the Bearcats, Trent Anderson scored 15 points with seven rebounds.  Chet Moeckli added 15 points and Rhet Scheidegger seven rebounds.  Hermann drops to 8-15 and 1-4.

Kale Catchings paced Liberty with 21 points in a 64-41 win over Washington.  Jayce Catchings added 18 as the Eagles soared to 16-6 overall and 7-0 in the GAC Central and have won 10 of their last 11 games.  Conlan Jarvis and Ryan Hoerstkamp paced the Blue Jays with 10 each.  Washington is 9-13 and 1-7.


Girls Basketball

Warrenton improves to 11-6 overall and 4-1 in the GAC North with a 39-24 win over Orchard Farm. 

Allison Stiers drained 15 points and pulled down 7 rebounds with Brooke Grosse adding 14 points and 7 assists as Hermann edged Union 56-54.  Hermann led 15-9 after the first quarter, but Union stormed back with 22 points in the second.  Hermann chipped away and overcame the deficit in the second half to improve to 19-3 and 3-1.  Union drops to 10-12 and 3-2.  The Wildcats were led by Julie Overstreet with 18 points, Emily Webb with 12 and Taylor Seely with 10.

Jackie Arnold pumped in 22 points with Brooke Robinson adding 19 and Reese Arnold 10 pushing Washington past Liberty 67-31.  Nichole Brinker chipped in 9 points and reached one thousand points for her high school career.  The Blue Jays are 11-10 and 3-3 in the GAC Central.  The Eagles drop to 5-13 and 0-6. 


Wrestling-Districts Saturday

Class 3 District 1 at Farmington-Pacific District Champions with 191 points-First district title for the Indians since 1982. Union was 8th with 87 and Washington was 9th with 84.5.

Pacific state qualifiers are Vincent Boyen, Jakob Balleydier, Callum Sitek, Noah Patton, Gage Kassing, Ben Courtney, James Anding, Chase Keleman and Trevor Heitsch.

Union state qualifiers are Carter Sickmeier, Ryder Kuenzel, David Clark and Haiden Meyer. 

Washington state qualifiers are Tate Hendricks, Dana Cates, Gunnar Noud and Michael Boehlein.

Class 2 District 1 at St. Genevieve.  St. James 2nd with 129 points, Sullivan 3rd with 126, St. Clair 4th with 122, Owensville 6th with 87 and Borgia 9th with 71.

St. James state qualifiers-Ty Lewis, Mikey Crocker, Thomas Henderson, Zach Woodson, Cole Petty, Nick Wilson and Drake Ortiz.

Sullivan state qualifiers-Dillon Witt, Kobie Blankenship, Ian Kilburn, Alec McCormick, Evan Shetley and Triston Brown.

St. Clair state qualifiers-Dalton Thompson, Jason Landing, Ryan Herman and Josh Richards.

Owensville state qualifiers-Austin Angell, Dustin Jahnsen, Blaine Schoenfeld, Tanner Rector and Colton Moore.

Borgia state qualifiers-Adam Hellebusch, Reid Posinski and Dylan Hellebusch, 

Class 3 District 2 at Hannibal.  Warrenton 8th with 62 points.
