Local High School Basketball-Tuesday, February 13th

Boys Basketball

Trevor Kelly pumped in 25 points, hit the game tying basket in the closings second of regulation and hit a key three pointer in overtime leading Union to a 66-58 win at St. Clair.  Jacob Towell added 14 and Peyton Burke and Caleb Mabe 10 each as the Wildcats shot 53 percent from the floor and improved to 10-14 overall and 5-1 in the four rivers conference.  Union outscored the Bulldogs 8-0 in the extra period.  St. Clair was hot in the first half and hit 12 three pointers, but cooled off in the second half, shooting 38 percent for the game.  Calvin Henry scored 13 with Jayce Decker and Noah Richardson adding 12 each.  The Bulldogs drop to 5-16 and 2-4. 

Cameron VanLeer was 6-of-9 on three pointers and posted 23 points, 4 rebounds, 5 assists and 4 steals in a 63-32 win at Owensville.  Pacific hit 11 deep as a team.  Tom Hennessey chipped in 8 points for the Indians, now 18-4 and 6-0.  Sean Irwin led Owensville with 12 points.

Sullivan drained 15 three pointers in a 68-43 win over New Haven.  Cody McKinney hit six beyond the arc and posted 26 points and Caleb Todd hit five deep and finished with 17 points and the Eagles moved to 12-11 and 3-2.  New Haven was led John Fleer with 19 points and 8 rebounds.  The Shamrocks drop to 7-17 and 1-5. 

Carter Keeney led four players in double figures with 14 points as St. James beat Hermann 61-39.  Ryan Harlan added 12, Bailey Terrill 11 and Ivan Fuhring 10 as the Tigers improved to 17-6 and 4-2.  Hermann was led by Trent Anderson with 10 points.  The Bearcats slip to 8-16 and 1-5.

Borgia got back on track with a 72-48 win at Lutheran-St. Charles.  Hunter Mehler led the way with 17 points and 8 rebounds, Jacob Unnerstall added 15 points and 11 rebounds and Eli Marquart drained four deep and finished with 14 points.  Brendan Smith chipped in 7 points and 8 rebounds.  Borgia moved back above .500 at 12-11.

Randy McRoberts and Caleb Strauss each posted a double-double leading Warrenton past St. Charles West 55-44.  McRoberts finished with 19 points and 10 rebounds and Strauss had 11 points and 14 rebounds.  The Warriors are 14-6 overall and 4-2 in the GAC North.   

 

Girls Basketball

Cor Jesu 54 Washington 40.  The Lady Jays drop to 11-10.  They were paced by Nichole Brinker with 10 points and Jackie Arnold with 9.  

Brooke Grosse drilled 17 points with Allison Stiers adding 15 and Emma Godat 12 as Hermann knocked off Pacific 65-53.  Hermann is now 21-3 and 5-1. Pacific was paced by Cori O'Neill with 15 points and 8 rebounds. The Indians drop to 10-12 and 1-5. 

Ashtyn Dixon drained 19 points and Kayla Nelson pulled down 14 rebounds leading Warrenton to a 52-44 home win over St. Charles West.  Grace Honey scored 12 for St. Charles West.  Warrenton moves to 12-6 overall and and 5-1 in the GAC North.
