Drew Reed-Union Baseball

The KLPW Radio Athlete of the Week is Senior Baseball Player Drew Reed from Union High School. 

Drew leaves Union High School holding several records. 273 Career At-Bats.  100 Career Hits, breaking the old record held by TJ Johnson.  33 Career Doubles, breaking the old record set by Mike Overman in 2004. 41 Extra Base Hits, breaking the old record held by Stan Heidman in 1992 and Drew's 12 Doubles this season is a new record for a single season.

Drew was the winning pitcher in a 5-4 win over Borgia in the Semifinal of the Class 4 District 3 Tournament Saturday afternoon at Union High School.

He gave up two runs on four hits with 10 strike outs, four walks and one hit batter.  Drew also contributed at the plate with a sacrifice fly in the first inning to put Union on top and he singled and scored in the third inning. 

Drew was a unanimous selection first team all conference utility player.

Drew bats third in the lineup and leads the Wildcats with a .406 average .544 on base percentage and he's slugging .652.  He also leads the team with 19 rbi's, while hitting 12 doubles, one triple and one home run.   In 92 plate appearances, Reed has struck out just four times while drawing a team leading 16 walks.

As a pitcher, Drew has a record of 3-3 with an era of 1.67.  He's given up 10 runs on 24 hits, two doubles and one home run.  He's posted 58 strike outs and 19 walks in 37 and two/thirds innings.

His WHIP is a team low 1.14.

Drew will attend Maple Woods Community College in Kansas City on a baseball scholarship. 

He will Major in Education. Drew wants to be a High School English Teacher, Counselor and Baseball Coach.

Drew is a good athlete.  He was a running back and linebacker on the football team as well.
